By PearlPoint Nutrition Services December 30, 2013Pearls of Wisdom Blog

Holly was undergoing treatment for stomach cancer and was experiencing severe diarrhea. Holly wanted to get back to a regular routine and her normal daily activities, but her upset stomach was making that difficult. Unsure what to do, she contacted PearlPoint Cancer Support.

PearlPoint’s registered dietitian spoke with Holly about eating dry meals and avoiding soup and gravy. She also recommended Holly not have liquids with her meals and wait until 30 minutes after eating to have some water. The dietitian cautioned Holly about the importance of hydration during cancer treatment and directed her to our website for nutrition tips to manage diarrhea. With her diarrhea under control, Holly was able to resume some of her normal routine and regain some independence.
