In honor of Mother’s Day, enjoy this sonnet written by PearlPoint’s own Margaret Martin, MS, RD, LDN, CDE, for all the mothers who care for adults impacted by cancer. Being caregiver for someone diagnosed with cancer is a difficult job, practically and emotionally. Thank you for all that you do!

Joy To Mothers

Mothers come in many shapes, ages, and names
Whether she is m re, madre, m e, or mom.
Her talents are many and your hurts often tame,
Flowing over you like a cool balm.
You are always in her thoughts and prayers,
During treatments, in the dark of night or at remission.
Your wellbeing is lifted to the top of her cares,
As your health is her mission.
When you are worried she brings you peace
At times of hunger she nourishes you with meals.
Her energy is long lasting, seeming never to cease,
All her efforts are meant from this cancer to heal.
Her hands are strong, soft and wrinkled,
Many dishes and fresh bed linens have they arranged.
All with love and care have these tasks been sprinkled,
For the outcome of your journey may be so changed.
May love and kindness be yours this Mother’s Day.
Oh, weave joy in your heart for her splendid care today.
