5 Easy Gift Ideas for Cancer Survivors

The holiday season is in full swing! Still scrambling to find some last minute gifts? Check out our 5 easy ideas for the cancer survivors in your life.

Warm blanket, socks, or hat

Many cancer patients are especially susceptible to the chilly winter air (and air conditioned treatment rooms). A soft throw blanket, fuzzy socks, or wool cap can help keep your loved one toasty and warm. Something cozy will always be appreciated by cancer patients.

Unscented lotions or lip balm

Everyone’s skin gets dry in the winter, but for cancer patients in treatment, dry skin can be even more severe. Put together a gift basket of some of your favorite unscented lotions, hand creams, or lip balms. Opt for unscented and products for sensitive skin. Sometimes strong smells can trigger nausea for patients receiving chemo or can irritate sensitive skin. You can also combine moisturizers with our last gift suggestion and give your loved one a pair of shea butter or aloe infused socks.

A photobook or scrapbook

Create a photobook or scrapbook for your loved one with some of your favorite pictures. Highlight favorite memories and add in quotes or words of encouragement. Get creative and use stickers, colored paper, or magazine cutouts to make a scrapbook. Not feeling crafty? There a many options for creating cute (and inexpensive) photo books online, delivered right to your door. A gift of memories is always a good choice!

A donation to a favorite nonprofit organization

Make a donation in your loved one’s honor. Make a donation to a cancer research or support organization or to an organization your loved one holds near and dear. When you make a donation in someone’s honor, the organization typically sends an acknowledgement card so your loved one will know of your gift.

Time together

What’s the best gift you can give a person? Your time! Spend time with you loved one. Watch a classic holiday movie at home. Drive around town to see all the twinkling Christmas lights. Prepare a meal for your loved one and enjoy it together. The gift of your time is free and no gift wrapping required!
